Jeffrey R. Stout, Ph.D.
Jeffrey R. Stout, Ph.D. is currently an Assistant Professor and Director of the Metabolic and Body Composition Laboratory in the Department of Health and Exercise Science. He received a bachelor?s degree in Exercise Science from Concordia University in 1989 and a masters and doctorate in Exercise Physiology from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln in 1992 and 1995, respectively. In addition, Dr. Stout is a Fellow of the American College of Sports Medicine (FACSM), Fellow of the International Society of Sports Nutrition and Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS).
Dr. Stout has conducted and published numerous studies that focus on nutritional intervention on exercise performance, muscle function and body composition in journals such as Journal of Applied Physiology, Journal of Strength and Conditioning Research and Medicine and Science in Sports and Exercise. Furthermore, he has edited and co-authored six books on sports nutrition.
Dr. Stout serves on the Editorial Boards of the Journal of Strength and Conditioning Research and Journal of the International Society of Sports Nutrition and is a regular reviewer for journals such as Medicine and Science in Sports and Exercise and Journal of Sports Science and Medicine.
He has also attended and regularly presented at each NSCA National Conference since 1993 and was recently elected to the NSCA Research Committee.
In July 2001, Dr. Stout received the Outstanding Young Investigator of the Year Award from the NSCA. In addition, that year he also won the Editorial Excellence Award from the Journal of Strength and Conditioning Research.

Dr. Joseph W. Carnazzo, PharmD.
Originally from Bellevue, Nebraska, Mr. Carnazzo graduated from Creighton University in 1987 with a Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy degree. Following a two-year period as pharmacist in charge of a pharmacy servicing seven nursing homes, Mr. Carnazzo worked as a staff pharmacist overseeing the production of sterile intravenous products at Bergan Mercy Hospital in Omaha. In 1989, he accepted a clinical staff pharmacist position at the University of Nebraska Medical Center Hospital Pharmacy in Omaha. There, he managed the production of sterile intravenous products, worked as a clinical pharmacist in the operating room pharmacy satellite, and assisted in monitoring investigational drug studies for the University of Nebraska Medical Center Hospital of Pharmacy. In 1998 Mr. Carnazzo took a position as clinical research pharmacist for MDS Harris Laboratories, where he was in charge of the pharmacy operations that organize and manage the investigational drug studies for various pharmaceutical companies.
In 1995 while working part time, he and his brother, Mike, started FSI Nutrition. Mr. Carnazzo is currently the vice president of research and development for FSI Nutrition and the inventor of effervescent creatine.

Dr. Brian Sakurada, PharmD.
Dr. Sakurada received his degree from the University of Nebraska College of Pharmacy in 1990. Following this, he completed a Clinical Pharmacy Residency program at University Hospital in Omaha, NE. He joined the staff at University Hospital in 1991 as a clinical pharmacist specializing in adult and pediatric care and adult cardiology.
Currently he is with a nationally recognized pharmaceutical company as a Medical Science Manager focusing primarily in medical education. He also holds adjunct faculty appointments to both the University of Nebraska College of Pharmacy and Clarkson College of Nursing, both in Omaha.

Dr. Martha Garcia, PharmD.
Originally from Miami, Florida, Dr. Garcia received her Doctorate in Pharmacy from Creighton University in 1997. She then practiced 9 years as a hospital pharmacist at various Cardinal Healthcare hospitals and facilities in Nebraska and Florida. Fluent in Spanish, Dr. Garcia is currently focusing solely on consulting and development work on a full time basis.
